PETUALANGAN MIGUEL LITTIN

Life turns out
   in ways you
never expected
The eighteen million women born in the first years of the baby boom grow up anticipating a life of rules-go to college, get married, have a family. But when the time came, the cultural, social and political tumult of the late 1960s catapulted them into options that no previous generation had even considered.
The Women Who Broke All The Rules is the first book to celebrate the ordinary but extra ordinary women who made decisions that have changed every woman's life. Agains extreme odds and without role models, these women made  unprecendentedlife choices-in marriage, childbearing, education and work. By breaking every rule in the "good girl" hand book, they defined new ways for adult women to live.
You will recognize yourself, your family and your friends in these pages.
"I have often thought of myself and my friends  as traditional figures, more sure of where we were coming from than where we were going. Friends of mine have described our coming of age as being on the cusp of chance that fundamentally redefined the role of women."
-Hillary Rodham Clinton-

Lily has grown up believing she accidentally killed her mother when she was just four years old. Now, at fourteen, she yearns for forgiveness and a mother's love. Living on a peach farm in South Carolina with her father, her only friend is Rosaleen, a black servant.
When racial tension explodes one summer afternoon, and Rosaleen is arrested and beaten, Lily is compelled to act. Fugitives from justice, the pair follow a trail left by the woman who died ten year before. Finding sanctuary in the home of three beekeeping sisters, Lily starts a journey as much about her understanding of the world, as about the mystery surrounding her mother.

Praise for THE SECRETS LIFE OF BEES:
'Eccentrict, inventive and ultimately forgiving' ANITA SHREVE
'Charming, funny, moving' THE TIMES
'This is a wonderful book, by turns funny, sad, full of incident and shot throught with grown-up magic reminiscent of Joanne Harris' DAILY TELEGRAPH
'Uplifting and warm-hearted, this is a moving novel'

The massively bestselling account
of the titanic struggle to dominate a machine ...

The making of the 32-bit mini komputer, eagle, was a colossus of an enterprise, demanding the waking hours and sleeping thoughts of a brilliant and aggresive team of young computer wizards who worked for the multi-million-dollar American company, Data General.
They were given one year: day-by-day, wire-by-wire, the 'microkids' traced and retraced Eagle's labyrinthine arteries, fought back at its tantrums and wooed its obedience. It forced them to the limits of their endurance.
